CTD kills six terrorists in Mianwali IBO

The Counter Terrorism Department killed six terrorists during an exchange of fire in an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in Mianwali.

Mianwali narrowly escaped a major terrorist attack. During an exchange of fire between CTD and terrorists near Chapri Dam in the Chapri area, six dangerous terrorists were killed by firing from their own companions, while eight terrorists escaped, taking advantage of the darkness.

According to the CTD spokesperson, the CTD conducted an intelligence-based operation to arrest the terrorists. The terrorists opened fire on the CTD personnel.

In the exchange of fire, six terrorists were killed by their own companions’ firing, while eight escaped, he added.

The officials stated that one suicide vest, three hand grenades, six SMGs, 200 rounds of ammunition, and explosive material, according to the CTD spokesperson.

A search operation is underway to arrest the fleeing terrorists. CTD teams have cordoned off the Chapri area, the spokesperson confirmed.

Earlier, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested 49 suspected terrorists, including an alleged agent of the Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), during intelligence-based operations carried out across Punjab.

According to CTD officials, the week-long operations were conducted in multiple cities following reports of potential terrorist activity. During one such operation in Lahore, a suspected RAW agent identified as Mujtaba was taken into custody. Officials claimed that explosives, weapons, and maps of sensitive government installations were recovered from his possession.

Authorities said that explosives and materials used for making suicide jackets were also seized from other arrested suspects. Initial investigations suggest that the group was planning attacks at various locations to create fear and panic among the public.

CTD officials further revealed that a total of 6,131 combing operations were conducted across Punjab during the past month. As a result, 599 suspects were arrested, and 243,546 individuals were questioned as part of security screening measures.

The operations were carried out in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Toba Tek Singh, Hafizabad, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Faisalabad. In view of ongoing security threats, the CTD has decided to further intensify intelligence-based operations across the province to prevent potential acts of terrorism.
