Miguel Diaz-Canel, Cuban President said on Monday that if any kind of US military action is taken against Cuba then it would lead to a blood bath.
He further said the region and its peace will face incalculable consequences.
The Cuban President said in a post on X that Cuba does not represent any kind of a threat.
These comments come after an Axios report which was published on Sunday. The report cited classified intelligence.
The report said that Cuba has acquired more than 300 military drones and was discussing plans to use them to attack the US naval base at Guantanamo Bay, US military vessels and Key West, Florida.
According to Cuba, US is trying to fabricate a case so they can justify potential military intervention.
When media channels talked to the Cuban residents on the streets of Havana they said that
On the streets of Havana, some residents said they would resist any attack despite the island’s deep economic hardship.
Sandra Roseaux, 57 said that “I know Cuba is a strong country. Cubans are very brave and they are not going to find us unprepared.”
“If they come, they will have to fight, because Cuba will respond. My country, hungry or however it may be, will respond. It is better that they do not come because there will be a fight.”
Cuba has been a communist foe of the United States for generations. It has faced increasing strain since the energy supplies by the United States have been cut off after they arrested the President of Venezuela, who used to be a Cuban ally.
Recently in Cuba electricity is only available for an hour or two and fuel has also run out. There has been a sharp increase in tensions between the two countries.
