ISLAMABAD: With the expiry of October 1st deadline, the Islamabad traffic police is all set to launch action against motorcyclists not wearing helmets and riding bikes without valid number plates.
The traffic police had set October 1 as deadline for motorcyclists to buy helmets and install original number plates issued by the Excise Office. The police had warned that strict action will be taken against violations of traffic rules and the use of illegal fancy number plates, unauthorised flashy lights, lane violations, one-wheeling, underage riders, helmetless driving, and bikes without mirrors.
According to a spokesperson for Islamabad Police, CTO Hamza Humayun said that motorcyclists must purchase helmets and fix original sample number plates by October 1.

He also had urged them to avoid one-wheeling, lane violations and riding motorcycles without silencers. A strict crackdown had started against such violations after the expiry of the deadline.
The Chief Traffic Officer said police are already carrying out strict action against one-way violations. All motorcyclists must also obtain their driving licence or learner’s permit by October 7.
Strict measures will be taken against riders putting their own and others’ lives at risk. According to the CTO, most of the road fatalities this year occurred due to motorcyclists’ mistakes.
The violators will not only face heavy fines, but also impounding of their vehicle and jail term.
