Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, has announced financial compensation for victims of the deadly bus ravine crash.
The families of each person killed in the accident will receive Rs2 million, while each injured victim will be provided Rs1 million in financial assistance.
The chief minister ordered the authorities to complete all necessary procedures for the disbursement of compensation without delay, while adding that the provincial government stands with the bereaved families during this difficult time.
According to the latest reports, at least 40 people lost their lives, and eight people were injured.
The overcrowded bus was going to Peshawar from Balochistan when it fell into a ravine near KP.
Sherani Deputy Commissioner (DC) said that the bus left Quetta with 36 passengers, but more people from another broken-down bus boarded it midway.
The Balochistan chief minister has also ordered an investigation into the causes of the accident.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the incident.
Expressing condolences to the bereaved families, they prayed for the departed souls to be granted the highest ranks. They also directed the authorities to ensure the injured receive the best possible medical care.
