Death toll in Gul plaza fire rises to 30

The death toll of Karachi Gul Plaza fire has reached to 30 as the authorities have identified three more bodies.

According to reports that so far, 17 victims have been recognized and 81 people are still missing.

Search and rescue operations are going on in the fire-hit building.

According to the rescue sources that the emergency teams have cleared the ground and first floors but operations remain challenging due to the unbalanced of construction.

The intense fire has reduced large portions of the building to rubble, with several sections collapsing.

Officials have warned that the remaining structure of Gul Plaza could collapse at any time, posing serious risks to rescue workers.

Meanwhile, 32 vehicles, including cars, have been successfully removed from the building’s rooftop as part of the ongoing operation.

Earlier DIG South Asad Raza said that the dead bodies that were unable to be identified were shifted to Edhi Cold storage. These bodies will be identified later through DNA.

According to reports, over 150 people have been rescued from the fire. Authorities have also warned that the building could collapse.

A firefighter named Furqan, from Nazimabad Fire Office, was recovered from the rubble and brought to the Civil Hospital Trauma Centre, but he couldn’t survive.

Teams from the Pakistan Navy also assisted in the rescue efforts.
