December 27 declared a public holiday in Sindh

December 27

The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on December 27 (Saturday) throughout the province.

The holiday will be observed to mark the 18th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

All offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils falling under the control of the provincial government will remain closed on the day.

It is pertinent to mention that the upcoming week will also have another public holiday, as December 25 (Thursday) marks the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) also issued a notification confirming that banks will be closed for the day in observance of both Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.

The central bank’s announcement indicates that all financial institutions, including commercial banks, will be closed on December 25 as per the government’s directive.

Across the nation, official events and ceremonies will take place to honour the Quaid’s life, political struggles, and pivotal role in the creation of Pakistan.

Various social, political, and non-governmental organisations, along with forums, have also arranged special programs to commemorate the occasion.
