Islamabad: Pakistan has issued a demarche to the UK’s Acting High Commissioner on Friday, over PTI’s threats to the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, while holding a protest outside the Pakistani Consulate in Bradford, according to a Foreign Office spokesperson.
Demarche to UK
Pakistan has issued a verbal demarche to the United Kingdom’s Acting High Commissioner over protests held outside the Pakistani Consulate in Bradford.
As the British High Commissioner, Jane Marriott, is currently not in the country. Therefore, a demarche was conveyed after summoning the UK’s Acting High Commissioner.
The demarche relates to demonstrations organised using an official account of a Pakistani political party based in the UK to mobilise protesters.
During the protest, participants used inflammatory and objectionable language against COAS CDF Field Marshal Asim Munir .
The PTI UK workers also gave death threats to COAS CDF Field Marshal Asim Munir. It prompted Islamabad to convey serious concerns to the British authorities.
The Pakistani government has taken serious notice of the threats made from British soil.
Pakistan has urged the UK authorities not to allow their territory to be used to destabilise Pakistan.
Islamabad has expressed hope that action will be taken against those involved. And that such elements will be held accountable in accordance with the law, sources added.
PTI protesters threaten with ‘car bomb attack’
A video shared by PTI UK during the protest shows participants making direct threats against COAS CDF Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. It even includes comments about targeting him in a car-bomb attack.
One participant could be heard stating that he would be “targeted in his car.” This signals in an extreme and threatening tone.
Social media users have even questioned how such a violent gathering can be allowed on the United Kingdom’s soil.
