Dense fog causes Motorway closures

Motorway M-4 and M-11 closed for traffic due to dense fog

ISLAMABAD: The National Motorway and Highway Police have closed some of the motorways in the country because of thick fog.

The visibility has gone down considerably in most places, with the conditions on the road being dangerous, particularly in the early morning hours.

Closed Motorways

A spokesperson claimed that Motorway M-1 had been shut down between Peshawar and Burhan Interchange due to very low visibility.

Motorway M-3 also shuts down its traffic between Faizpur and Jaranwala Interchange.

Moreover, the Motorway M-4 has been closed between Pindi Bhattian and Shershah to avoid accidents that result from bad weather.

Also, M-5 is closed between Rohri and Multan, and the M-11 between Lahore Main Toll Plaza and Sambrial.

Alternative Routes to Travel

Traffic is diverted to the GT road, and the law enforcers are present there in order to direct motorists.

The Motorway Police has encouraged travellers to avoid travelling in foggy seasons and delay their travel until visibility is enhanced.

It is also recommended that commuters use fog lights, maintain a safe distance, and drive at slower speeds when going through fog-prone areas.

The authorities said that the road will be back to normal once the weather clears.
