ISLAMABAD: The accused Pakistani YouTuber Rajab Butt, along with his ally TikToker Nadeem Naniwala, has finally landed in Pakistan.
Butt will appear before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) today. The UK government deported Rajab Butt after cancelling his visa.
Media reports, however, offer a slightly different narrative. Some sources claim his lawyer suggested he return to face the charges.
The UK revoked Butt’s visa over undisclosed legal cases. Sources based in the UK confirmed his deportation on Tuesday.
Authorities found he failed to disclose pending cases when applying for his visa. This omission was a key violation of British immigration rules. The visa was initially valid until 2027.
Legal Cases and Investigations
Failing to disclose legal cases is not a new issue for Butt. In September this year, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) filed a case against him.
The charge involved promoting illegal betting apps. Nadeem Naniwala was also booked by the NCCIA in this same case. Furthermore, Naniwala was arrested earlier in a fake number plate case.
The deportation followed an inquiry launched several days earlier. Investigators detained Butt and Naniwala after anonymous complaints surfaced.
These complaints alleged links to terrorism-related activities. Both men were cleared of any ties during the investigation.
While Naniwala, a British national, was released, the Home Office reviewed Butt’s documents. This scrutiny uncovered the undeclared active cases. Pakistani institutions had already conveyed this information to UK officials.
Consequently, both influencers will now surrender before the IHC today.
