The Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has given the go-ahead to establish an exclusive job portal and grievance redressal system in order to enhance the access to employment for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the province.
The decision was announced at a high level meeting at the CM House.
The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary Agha Wasif, Secretary DEPD Tauha Ahmed Faruqui, Vice Chancellor of Sukkur Institute of Business Administration Prof Asif Ahmed Shaikh and DEPD Consultant Samad Channa among other officials.
AI-Based Job Matching and AI-Based Multi-Language Support
The digital portal is being developed in cooperation with Sukkur IBA. It will have an AI-based matching of jobs to link qualified PWDs with appropriate vacancies in the government departments.
To ensure accessibility, the platform will have a multilingual support system with Urdu, Sindhi and English.
This step is to make the system user-friendly and inclusive for the applicants from different backgrounds in the province of Sindh.
Incorporated Grievance Redressal System
Along with job portal there will be introduced a digital grievance redressal module. This system will enable PWDs to register complaints and keep track of their resolutions in a much efficient way.
The chief minister emphasised that the initiative will promote transparency and merit-based recruitment will protect the rights of persons with disability through timely dealing of the complaints.
Timeline for Insurance Implementation
According to the officials, the project will follow a rigid schedule. A prototype of the system is expected sometime in February of 2026. The full job portal will be in operation by May 2026 and the grievance redressal module is planned to be in operation by July 2026.
Legal Scenario and Key Provision
The initiative is guided by the Sindh Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2018 (with a legal framework for protection of the rights of PWDs).
Key provisions include enforcement of a five percent employment quota in government departments, inclusive education policies; awareness campaigns and annual progress reports for how compliance and impact is monitored throughout the province.
