The Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Karachi today to fill the vacancies in the disability job quota within two months, according to the reports.
According to the details, the issue regarding the failure of recruitment under the disability quota in all the districts of the city was presented before the SHC.
According to the reports, as per the petitioner’s counsel, more than 3000 posts are vacant in the government departments across the city.
The petition further states that eligible and educated persons with disabilities are not being given chances at government employment.
In addition to this, the lawyer also pointed out that a quota of five per cent is reserved for persons with disabilities in public sector jobs as per the law.
After listening to the arguments, the SHC ordered DC Karachi to fill all of the empty positions within a two month time period.
Additionally, the court also ordered that all vacancies that are under the disability quota have to be filled.
Govt announces jobs, training for 25,000 unemployed youth
Prior to this, the Punjab government announced a major step to train 25,000 young people and connect them with employment opportunities.
CM Youth Employability Program
Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz has approved the plan under the CM Youth Employability Program.
The program was approved during a meeting of the Punjab Development Working Party.
The officials said that it will meet the growing demand in the IT and BPO sectors.
Jobs will be available in customer support, call centres, and digital marketing, among other fields.
Over the next five years, 25,000 young people will receive training in cities. These locations include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, and Sialkot.
The Punjab Skills Development Fund will oversee implementation and monitoring. The training will combine classroom learning with practical work environments.
