LAHORE: Panic has gripped residents of Sabzazar’s N Block in Lahore after a man was murdered in front of his family and his house set on fire.
According to the police, assailant entered a house of Samar Abbas and shot him dead in front of his wife.
The attacker later locked the victim’s wife, idnentified as Kulsoom, in a room and set the house on fire.
The victim, 43-year-old Samar Abbas, died on the spot, while his wife, Kulsoom (40), was shifted to Jinnah Hospital in critical condition. She later succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

Police said initial investigation revealed that the attacker was the victim’s brother-in-law, who has been taken into custody.
At the time of the attack, the couple’s two children had already left for school.
Meanwhile, in another incident in Lahore, the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) personnel of Iqbal Town tried to stop a suspect at a checkpoint. The suspect opened fire on police, who retaliated and injured him before arresting.
According to police, the accused has several cases registered against him for car and motorcycle theft.
Police said investigations into both incidents are under way and further revelations are expected from the arrested suspects.
