The Sindh Education and Literacy Department is considering shifting winter vacations in schools from December to January, due to the extreme cold and strong winds in the first month of the year.

Consideration has been started to hold winter vacations in schools in January instead of December.

As per the details, the change is being suggested because, according to observations of the last few years, the most severe cold comes in January.

This is also the month when there are strong winds and low temperatures that can affect students’ comfort and even health.

Education department officials say that this proposal has come up in view of climate change.

The department’s steering committee will consider this issue during its next meeting.

If this proposal is approved, the winter vacations in schools in the southeastern regions of the country, including Karachi, will be in January instead of the last days of December.
