District Police Officer Okara has denied reports that a senior ISIS-K commander was killed in Akhtarabad, Punjab.
The claim gained attention after former US ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, quoting reports, said on X that commander Burhan, also known as Zaid, had been killed there.
Pakistani officials say the original story appeared on Almirsaad, a Taliban-linked anti-ISIS-K propaganda website, which alleged an ISIS-K presence in Punjab.
They describe the report as baseless and aimed at defaming Pakistan by suggesting cross-border IS-K activity.
The DPO said no such operation or encounter occurred in Akhtarabad and called the reports completely false.
