The jailed Pakistani neuroscientist Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s nephew Emad Siddiqui was shot down by three unidentified gunmen in Houston today. This was confirmed by the Siddiqui family in Karachi.
The attackers opened fire before feeling the scene according to the family. The identities of the shooters have not been publicly disclosed, or any motive of killing been confirmed by the US authorities in Houston
The incident is a devastating tragedy for the family which has been under international attention for years due to Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s imprisonment in the United States.

A private news media outlet was told by people close to the family that the murder may have occurred due to rising anti-muslim rhetoric in parts of United States.
It was also confirmed by the same sources that this incident is not in anyway linked directly to Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
People on X have been speculating about possible motives. It was suggested by some that the killing could be motivated and connected due to hostility towards Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s case.
No official investigation supports these claims.
AN investigation has been launched by law enforcement authorities in Houston and they are expected to review surveillance footage and witness accounts to determine whether the attack was targeted, criminal or hate-motivated in nature.
The victim’s family has called for a transparent investigation and justice for the victim.
