The government of Dubai has declared four days of holidays for public sector employees on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr beginning from March 19.
According to media reports, a circular issued by the Human Resources Department of the government of Dubai said that employees in the public sector would celebrate their Eid-ul-Fitr holidays for four days starting Thursday, March 19.
The report added that the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources had previously confirmed that all federal ministries and departments, as well as government institutions, will be closed between March 19 and March 22, and official work will resume on March 23.
It was further stated that the employees in the private sector would have three days of holidays from the period of 19th March till 21st of March.
The officials also said that if the month of Ramzan lasts for 30 days, the holidays for the employees of the private sector will be extended to March 22.
Shawwal moon sighting in Pakistan
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast for the Shawwal moon sighting for Eid-ul-Fitr 2026.
The department said there is no possibility of seeing the Shawwal moon on March 19. The moon of Shawwal 1447 AH will be born at 6:23 AM on March 19.
At sunset, the moon’s age at most meteorological stations will be 12 to 13 hours. This is not suitable for sighting.
The final decision will be made by Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. They will announce the date after sighting the moon.
Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 in Pakistan
Eid-ul-Fitr 1st Shawwal 1447 AH is expected to be observed from March 21 to March 23. This depends on the official moon sighting.
The official holidays for Eid 2026 in Pakistan will be confirmed closer to the date.
