About Hindu Kush
The Hindu Kush Himalaya is a region that extends 3500 km over Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal and Pakistan.
It is pertinent to mention that this area is frequently struck by earthquakes, with roughly five quakes with a magnitude of 5.0 or greater occuring each year because it is near the margin of the colliding Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates.
In 2002, a series of earthquakes of magnitude up to 6.1 destroyed several towns in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
