Earthquake jolts felt across Karachi

Earthquake tremors have been felt across Karachi and its major areas, including Landhi, Malir and Korangi.

According to the Department of Weather, the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.0 and was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometres.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located 100 kilometres south of Karachi.

The jolts were also felt across the coastal areas of Karachi.

The earthquake was reported at 1:27am.

As per the media report, after the tremors were felt, residents rushed out of their homes as fear and panic spread, with many reciting the Kalma.

The origin of the earthquake has yet to be confirmed by the relevant department.

The people were resting after having an iftar in their homes when the earthquake was felt by them.

They immediately rushed out of their houses and started reciting prayers.

The locals reported that they felt the walls were shaking due to the tremors.

No damage or casualty has been reported so far.

Sindh gets new Governor

PML-N leader Nehal Hashmi has been sworn in as the new Governor of Sindh.

The oath of office was administered by Sindh High Court Chief Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput at a ceremony held in Karachi.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, PML-N Sindh President Bashir Memon, as well as party leaders, workers, and other dignitaries.

It is worth noting that the decision to appoint Nehal Hashmi as the Governor of Sindh was made yesterday, and President Asif Ali Zardari approved his appointment.

Nehal Hashmi, who hails from Karachi, has been associated with the Pakistan Muslim League (N) for several decades.

He served as the Advisor to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Law and Justice from 1997 to 1999.
