Earthquake tremors felt in parts of Balochistan

Earthquake tremors were felt in several areas of Balochistan, Pakistan. According to the Seismological Centre, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 occurred at a depth of 17 kilometres. The epicentre was located 60 kilometres northeast of Kohlu district.

It is worth mentioning here that aftershocks continue to hit Venezuela following two major earthquakes, with more than a dozen tremors recorded so far. The death toll from the disaster has risen to 589. According to British media reports, two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 struck Venezuela one after the other, causing severe damage to infrastructure.

Reports say that 589 people have been confirmed dead, while more than 2,980 have been injured, and hundreds are feared to be trapped under the rubble. In an earlier update, the death toll was reported at 188, with more than 1,500 people injured.

In the capital, Caracas, several buildings collapsed, forcing survivors to spend the night on the streets. The earthquake also disrupted operations at Caracas Airport, leading to the suspension of flights. Venezuela’s acting president visited the affected coastal areas to assess the damage.

Media reports further indicate that aftershocks are continuing across the country, and another magnitude 5 earthquake is expected next week.
