Web Desk: For misleading and baseless allegations, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a show cause notice to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Adviser Shafiullah Jan.
According to ECP Shafiullah Jan had made remarks on a Charsadda based journalist’s YouTube channel.
According to the ECP, Shafiullah Jan made misleading and baseless allegations regarding Forms 45 and 47 in connection with the Haripur by-election.
The commission has sought a written explanation along with supporting evidence within seven days.
The ECP said that Shafiullah Jan made comments on the election process and those comments could create confusion in the public. It also said that such allegations about the electoral process are not acceptable and must be address accordance with the law.
Earlier it was reported that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) summoned Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi over his ‘threatening remarks’ used against government employees in a public rally in Havelian, Haripur.
A meeting took place at ECP, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, over CM Afridi’s participation in Havelian rally and his threatening remarks against the election officials.
During the meeting, the ECP’s legal team briefed the officials on the matter of Afridi’s alleged threats.
The commission summoned the KP CM tomorrow over the code of conduct violation by his inciting remarks.
