Egypt has now been ranked among the top 10 best performing teams at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The international football statistics platform FotMob has given the Egypt team a rating of 7.17 out of 10 while assessing the team’s performances.
The Egyptian team has ranked above many major teams such as Morocco, Japan, Canada, Portugal, Brazil and Norway.
Other ratings include France that produced 7.56 out of 10. Germany came in second with 7.43 and Spain following in third place at 7.35 so far.
Earlier, Iran held Egypt to a 1-1 draw.
The team’s qualification for the final 32 was already confirmed as Mahmoud Saber took a lead through five minutes.
In the 14th minute, Ramin Rezaein equalised from a difficult angle.
Iran had a golden opportunity to take control by winning a penalty before half-time but captain Mehdi Taremi’s penalty was saved by the brilliance of the Egyptian goalkeeper, giving his side a huge lifeline.
Egypt held them back bravely but Iran kept on pressing for the goal that would decide whether they advance to the knockout round.
The drama in the game intensified as Iran considered itself to have made a dramatic victory in the dying moments of the game only to have the goal ruled offside after VAR scrutiny.
Croatia secures 2-1 win against Ghana
Croatia defeated Ghana 2-1 in a thrilling Group L match to qualify for the last 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Despite the defeat, Ghana also advanced to the knockout stage as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams.
The match, played in Philadelphia, saw Croatia dominate the early stages.
Midfielder Petar Sučić opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a well-taken finish after being set up by Mateo Kovačić, giving Croatia a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Ghana responded strongly after the break and equalised in the 73rd minute when defender Derrick Luckassen headed home a cross from Ernest Nuamah.
