Eid ul Fitr shopping activity has intensified across the Twin-cites Rawalpindi and Islamabad, major markets, as large numbers of families, including children and adults, are visiting shopping centres to complete their Eid purchases.
According to market observations, the rush is increasing with each passing day and is expected to reach its peak on Chand Raat, the night when the moon is sighted.
Shopping activities usually continue late into the night on this occasion, after which preparations conclude and the celebrations of Eid begin the following day.
Major markets witness peak Eid shopping rush
Eid shopping is in full swing at the city’s major markets. In Rawalpindi, a large rush of shoppers is being witnessed in markets including Commercial Market, Saddar, Raja Bazaar, Tench Bhatta, Chaklala Scheme-3 and Giga Mall. In Islamabad, markets such as Aabpara Market, Centaurus Mall, Super Market, Jinnah Super, I-8 Markaz, and F-10 Markaz are also witnessing a heavy influx of shoppers
People usually have their clothes stitched at tailoring shops. However, many tailors stopped taking new orders within the first ten days due to the heavy workload. Now, people are busy buying ready-made garments, shoes for adults and children, women’s makeup, artificial jewellery, and purses for young girls.
This shopping activity will reach its peak on the night of the moon sighting, Chand Raat. On that night, there will also be a heavy rush at beauty parlours for henna application and grooming.
Women are visiting beauty parlours, while men are going to hair-cutting salons for haircuts, facials, and other grooming services, which has increased the crowd at these places.
After the final round of shopping on Chand Raat, citizens will begin celebrating Eid by enjoying their favourite foods and meeting friends and relatives after the Eid ul Fitr prayer.
