Eid ul-Azha: Prices of chopping blocks, knives, cleaver increase

In Lahore, shops located in the Kala Pul area are witnessing a significant surge in sales of sacrificial items ahead of Eid ul-Azha as citizens rush to purchase essential equipment for animal sacrifice.

According to local shopkeepers, demand for sacrificial tools and accessories has sharply increased and leading to heavy crowds at markets and shops.

Vendors said a sharp knife is currently being sold for Rs550 and a meat cutting tool is available for Rs1,000. The price of an axe has reached Rs1,250.

Similarly, ropes are being sold at Rs500 per kilogram. Baskets are available for Rs200 each and mats are being sold for Rs900 per piece.

Shopkeepers added that demand for these items continues to rise as Eid ul-Azha approaches, with buyers purchasing essential supplies to complete sacrificial arrangements smoothly.

Eid ul-Azha 2026: leaves of local government staff cancelled

Ahead of Eid ul-Azha 2026 holidays, the Punjab Local Government Department has issued special instructions to make sure of cleanliness, security, and proper arrangements across the province during the festive days.

According to the department, temporary cattle sale points across Punjab will be fully active by Sunday. In addition to this, strict action will be taken against the sale of sacrificial animals on roadsides.

The Suthra Punjab Authority and waste management companies will remain active throughout Eid ul-Azha. Leaves of local government staff have been cancelled to make sure of smooth operations.

Citizens will also be provided with biodegradable waste bags on time for the proper disposal of animal waste. Awareness camps will also be set up in every union council to guide the public on cleanliness and safety measures during the Eid days.

The authorities have also said that the central and district level control rooms will continue to work during the holidays. People who are throwing animal waste on roads or into drains will also face fines.

Officials have further directed authorities to make sure parking, water, and other basic facilities at cattle sale points across the province.
