Possible date of Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 revealed in Pakistan

The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has said that Eid ul Fitr 2026 in Pakistan will likely be on Saturday, March 21, based on astronomical calculations for the Shawwal moon, according to the reports on Wednesday.

SUPARCO reported that the Shawwal moon will be born on March 19 at 6:23 AM.

By sunset that day, the moon will be around 12 hours and 41 minutes old. Along Pakistan’s coastal areas, the time between sunset and moonset will be about 28 minutes.

When will Eid ul Fitr 2026 be?

However, the chances of seeing the crescent on March 19 are low.

The official confirmation will come from the Central Ruet e Hilal Committee, which declares the start of Islamic months in Pakistan.

A meeting of the committee has been scheduled for March 19 to sight the Shawwal moon.

The meeting will be led by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, chairman of the committee. And attended by scholars from all schools of thought.

In addition, it will also have representatives from the Meteorological Department and other institutions.

Local Zonal Ruet e Hilal Committees in different cities will also review moon sighting reports from their areas and share them with the Central Committee. These will then make the final announcement for Eid ul Fitr 2026.

Govt grants Eid relief

Traffic police have decided to provide temporary relief to citizens in response to rising global tensions and increasing petrol prices, officials announced on Wednesday.

According to traffic authorities, rickshaw and motorcycle riders will not be issued traffic challans until Eid.

Officials have said that the continuous increase in petrol prices has raised daily expenses for the people.

As a result of this, the traffic police have adopted a lenient policy under which awareness about traffic rules will continue. But the routine fines will largely be avoided during this period.
