The Punjab School Education Department has directed all public and private schools across the province to adopt the Educational Institutions Security Status (EISS) Mobile Application and Web Portal as part of efforts to strengthen monitoring of school security arrangements.
The directive was issued by the Directorate General (Monitoring and Evaluation) through an official letter dated August 23, 2026, addressed to all Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of District Education Authorities (DEAs) in Punjab.
The CEOs have been instructed to communicate the orders to heads of public and private schools and ensure their implementation.
The EISS initiative was developed on the directions of the Punjab Home Department, which called for the creation of a centralised digital repository containing security-related information of educational institutions across the province.
The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has been assigned responsibility for developing and operationalising the EISS application.
The platform will provide a centralised system for collecting, maintaining and monitoring security information submitted by schools. The department said the system would help authorities monitor prescribed security requirements and improve administrative oversight and policymaking.
Five-tier security monitoring
The directive also refers to a five-tier monitoring mechanism designed to establish a structured system of inspection and oversight for educational institutions.
The mechanism will assess schools’ compliance with prescribed security measures and support implementation of the province’s security framework.
Under Level-I monitoring, schools will carry out self assessments through the EISS platform, which will become operational with the launch of the application.
Schools required to update security data
School administrations have been instructed to access the EISS Mobile Application and Web Portal through their designated official login credentials.
They must enter information related to security measures and other mandatory parameters on the platform.
The department has directed schools to ensure that the information submitted is accurate, complete and reliable. Institutions have also been told to regularly update their records so that the centralised database remains current.
According to the department, accurate and updated information will enable authorities to obtain a consolidated picture of security arrangements at educational institutions and improve monitoring.
Real-time security monitoring
The EISS platform is being implemented across Punjab to establish an integrated, real-time repository of security-related data from educational institutions.
The system is expected to help authorities monitor security parameters, strengthen administrative supervision and provide reliable data for policymaking.
The department has directed all CEOs of District Education Authorities to ensure compliance and circulate the instructions among heads of public and private schools across Punjab.
