Prices of e-bikes have been raised by a local electric bike manufacturing company due to higher operational expenses and recent increases in petroleum prices.
The company explained in the official statement that maritime shipping fees have risen, logistics costs from Karachi ports have also risen including the costs of manufacturing plants and additional expense is being paid to deliver vehicles to dealerships resulting in the surge of prices.
It was also stated in the statement that the recent spike in the prices of petroleum products places a significant strain on the company’s budget, hence it became impossible to absorb the extra costs internally.
Due to this now all models of Metro E-Vehicles will now be carrying an additional Rs5000 effective immediately.
This price adjustment is only applied to orders placed after April 3. The deals are instructed to collect the extra amount alongside the current price.
The federal government, earlier this week announced a sharp increase in petroleum prices. The petroleum prices were raised to Rs458.41 per litre. High speed diesel prices were also increased to Rs520.35 per litre.
This recent hike was a very significant jump from the previously notified prices which were announced in March. The prices for petrol were Rs321.17 per litre and diesel at Rs335.86 per litre. This was a total increase of over Rs137.24 per litre in petrol and Rs184.49 in diesel.
However, in this recent hike the petroleum levy has been reduced by Rs80 per litre so the new petrol rate is Rs378 per litre.
