emergency in KP

The government has reportedly decided to impose an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to sources, approval for the decision is expected to be sought from the federal cabinet by tomorrow.

Meanwhile, sessions of the Senate and the National Assembly have also been scheduled for Monday.

Prior to this, a meeting was held at the President’s House, attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other ministers. Sources said the meeting discussed the situation in KP and decided to impose an emergency in the province.

According to sources, government officials said the decision was made to address the law and order situation in the province. They added that the federal government had made efforts to resolve the situation, but the provincial government had failed to take the necessary steps.

Before the long march began, the federal government also held talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders to discuss the situation. However, the KP government reportedly refused to take action against terrorism in the province and opposed the federal government’s counterterrorism policy.
