The third day of the second Test between Pakistan and England has ended. England have scored 177 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their second innings.
England now have a total lead of 357 runs over Pakistan. They have three wickets left.
Dan Lawrence is unbeaten on 50 runs. Ollie Robinson is with him on 2 runs.
Earlier, Harry Brook scored 34 runs. Emilio made 31 while Joe Root scored 24. Jordan Cox added 11 runs.
Jamie Smith and Gus Atkinson were dismissed after scoring seven runs each.
Pakistan’s bowlers have taken seven England wickets. However, England have built a strong lead and are now in a good position in the match.
Pakistan will need to take England’s remaining three wickets quickly on the fourth day. They will then have to chase the target if they want to win the match.
Sarfaraz admits Pakistan’s poor show in England
Pakistan Head Coach Sarfaraz Ahmed has admitted that the team’s players have performed poorly on the England tour. But he also insisted that he would not “throw them under the bus” over their disappointing performances.
At the end of the second day of the Lord’s Test, Sarfaraz Ahmed told reporters at a press conference that this is our team and that Pakistan’s best players are part of it.
He said the team’s main problem is that when the batting performs well, the bowling tends to struggle, and vice versa.
Sarfaraz said that Mohammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel and Salman Ali Agha have all performed well in the past, but are currently struggling to score runs. As head coach, he said he would continue to stand by them.
“We will sit down after the series, discuss everything, and then decide who should remain in the team and who should be left out,” he said.
