Possibilities for increasing business cooperation between Pakistan and Romania in the agriculture and dairy sectors have emerged. A Pakistani trade delegation, organised by the Pakistan-Romania Business Council, visited a large dairy farm near Bucharest, the capital of Romania.
On this occasion, discussions were held on cooperation in the fields of investment, trained manpower, and modern agricultural methods.
According to the Pakistan-Romania Business Council, the delegation was led by Atif Farooqi. He is also Romania’s designated Honorary Consul in Sindh.
The purpose of the visit was to review the modern methods used in Romania’s dairy sector and explore partnership opportunities for Pakistani businesses.
Farm Spread Over 7,000 Hectares
During the visit, the Pakistani delegation was briefed on the farm’s administrative structure, modern agricultural methods, livestock breeding, and milk production system.
According to officials, the farm is established on an area of approximately 7,000 hectares. It is a family business that has been operating for generations.
The farm grows the grain and silage required for livestock feed itself. Agricultural production in excess of its needs is sold in the local market.
Through this method, the farm meets its own feed requirements while also benefiting from surplus production.
The farm has approximately 7,000 milking cows of the Holstein breed. This breed is famous for producing large quantities of milk. In addition, fast-growing livestock are also raised on the farm for meat production.
Use of Modern Technology
The farm’s administrative and production operations are managed through a modern computerised system. This system is used to monitor livestock care, feed, and milk production.
The Pakistani delegation was informed about the farm’s management methods and production system. Participants also reviewed the technology used in large-scale dairy farming and the management of agricultural resources.
Agricultural production and livestock feed are interconnected on the farm. Growing its own grain and silage helps ensure the supply of feed for livestock. Surplus agricultural production is sold in the local market.
Daily Milk Deliveries
The farm administration informed the Pakistani delegation that raw milk is transported daily in designated tankers to a major dairy factory located in the city of Brasov.
According to the administration, a plan to install a large biogas plant on the farm is also underway. The project is expected to become operational soon.
Opportunities for Pakistani Investors
During the visit, various possibilities for cooperation for Pakistani businesses were reviewed. These also include the provision of trained manpower for Romania’s agricultural and dairy sectors.
An important objective of the visit was to understand Romania’s experience and modern methods. This could help Pakistani businesses explore potential partnership opportunities in the fields of dairy farming and agricultural production.
