Domestic and international travel may become more expensive for Pakistanis after the jet fuel price hike announced by the government.
A record hike of 82 per cent has been announced by the Pakistani government for the commercial flights.
After announcing the increase in petroleum products for cars and other vehicles, the price of jet fuel has increased by Rs154 per litre.
Now, the new price of jet fuel is Rs342.37 per litre.
This jet fuel price hike can drastically affect the current rates of the tickets for Pakistanis.
Currently, the airspace of the Middle East is closed due to the ongoing missile and drone attacks between Israel and Iran. Due to this reason, the airline and tourism industries are already suffering as thousands of flights are getting cancelled every day.
Petrol hike
A day earlier, the Pakistani government increased the price of petrol by Rs55 per litre.
Additionally, it was announced that petrol prices would now be reviewed on a weekly basis.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said that fuel prices have increased worldwide, while the ongoing war in the region is also likely to affect petroleum rates.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that the country has sufficient fuel reserves and Pakistanis do not need to panic about the situation.
Similarly, the Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb also said that there is no shortage of petrol in Pakistan.
