Fraudsters using fake SMS messages have become increasingly active, with reports emerging of citizens being deceived and losing money.
Islamabad Police has warned the public that such messages are fraudulent and urged people to respond only to messages received from official numbers. Citizens have also been advised not to click on any links included in suspicious SMS or WhatsApp messages claiming to be related to e-challans.
The police further advised that anyone receiving a suspicious or fake e-challan message should immediately report it to Islamabad Police or the FIA Cyber Crime Wing. Citizens should verify their e-challans only through the official government website.
Authorities also urged the public to remain cautious of fake websites, suspicious links, and unverified messages, emphasising that a single precaution can help protect individuals from financial losses and cyber fraud.
Earlier, Islamabad Police introduced a new emergency helpline, 1815, specifically for women in the federal capital.
It is designed to provide assistance, support, and guidance to women in the federal capital whenever they need help. The initiative aims to create a safe platform where women can quickly seek assistance during emergencies or difficult situations.
The announcement was made through the Islamabad Police, encouraging women to save the number and share it with others. The campaign highlights the importance of easy access to women to not hesitate to seek help whenever required.
The Women’s Emergency Helpline 1815 will offer a support system that is entirely focused on addressing women’s concerns and that women receive timely guidance and professional assistance in a secure environment.
One of the key features of the initiative is that it will be operated through a fully female led support system. Women seeking assistance will be able to communicate with trained female staff members who can better understand their concerns and provide help accordingly.
The helpline is to be completely confidential and secure. Any information shared by callers will be handled carefully to protect their privacy and maintain trust in the system. This aspect is intended to encourage more women to report incidents and seek guidance without fear of exposure.
Another major feature is its commitment to providing swift and specialised emergency responses. Islamabad Police aims to ensure that women facing urgent situations receive timely support.
The awareness campaign carries the message, “Your safety has a new number: 1815,” urging women across Islamabad to save the helpline and keep it accessible at all times.
