The incident took place in the 19th over of Pakistan’s innings when Zaman argued with the on-field umpires after being declared out.
He was found to have breached Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct. This relates to showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match.
The sanction was proposed by Reon King of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees.
The charge was also supported by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Asif Yaqoob, third umpire Rashid Riaz and fourth umpire Faisal Afridi.
Zaman admitted the offence and accepted the sanction, so a formal hearing was not required.
Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee. Along with one or two demerit points.
Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets to win the seven-match Tri-Nation T20I series.
They chased the target of 115 runs with eight balls to spare at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday night.
With this victory, Pakistan secured four wins in the series, excluding the last league match.
This brought their total T20I wins for the year to 21. This marked the highest number of victories Pakistan has achieved in a single year since playing their first T20I in August 2006.
