The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) taking action against tax defaulters has shut down eight restaurants and food outlets while issuing warnings to several others over unpaid service taxes.

Inspection teams revised sales data at 31 business locations across numerous cities focusing on cases of tax evasion, altered records, and breaches of tax regulations.

According to the authorities, during the operation officials seized business accounts from eight outlets and served legal notices to 17 establishments for failing to meet compliance standards.

As per details 06 marquees and wedding halls were warned for not integrating the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS), which is mandatory for transparent billing.

The crackdown was carried out in five cities Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sargodha, and Multan.

PRA officials said that enforcement followed repeated warnings and solid proof of irregularities.

Authorities reiterated that tax payments are a public responsibility and urged citizens to demand electronic receipts to help promote transparency and accountability.

Pakistan’s salaried class paid massive Rs266 billion tax in six months

Earlier a report revealed that Pakistan’s salaried class have paid a massive Rs 266 billion income tax in the first half of the current fiscal year 2025/26.

According to a report published in a daily newspaper, one rupee out of every 10 rupees of income tax has been paid by the salaried class.

Tax paid by salaried class went up by Rs 23 billion or 9 percent as compared to the previous year. The tax collected from the salaried class has already crossed Rs 300 billion, if included book adjustments.
