FC headquarters Peshawar terrorists identified as Afghan nationals

PESHAWAR: The headquarters of the Federal Constabulary (FC) in Peshawar’s Saddar area along Kohat Road came under attack early Monday morning.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar Mian Saeed said that three suicide bombers tried to enter the FC headquarters. “One attacker detonated himself at the main gate of the FC Headquarters, while two others managed to enter the premises,” he said.

The CCPO confirmed that the suicide blast has left three FC personnel martyred, and three others sustained injuries.

He further said that FC personnel immediately killed two terrorists inside the compound. He confirmed that all three suicide bombers were killed during the exchange of fire with the security personnel.

The CCPO stated that the intensity of the explosions shattered the windows of nearby buildings. The Saddar area has been closed for traffic, and traffic was being diverted to other areas, he added.

According to security sources, the attack occurred at 8 am. They revealed that the khawarij first carried out a suicide attack on the gate of the FC headquarters. After the suicide blast, the khawarij tried to enter the building but were killed, security sources added. They added that three FC men were killed in the incident, while two others were injured.

Following the incident, emergency was declared at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) and Khyber Teaching Hospital.

Muhammad Asim, LRH Spokesperson said that all the injured brought to the hospital including six civilians, are stable now.

Right after the blast, Inspector General (IG) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed said that two suicide explosions occurred at the main gate of the FC headquarters.

He said that there is information about few terrorists who managed to go inside the premises of the headquarters, however, it’s not verified yet.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have seen a rise in terrorist incidents in the recent past, and this attack is being viewed as part of that pattern.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or individuals to prevent further attacks.
