Federal Board Introduces New Syllabus for Matric, Intermediate Students

federal board announces new syllabus for class 9 and 11

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has decided to abolish the old curriculum and instead implement a comprehensive 2024 syllabus with immediate effect.

An official notification has been issued in this regard.

According to the Federal Board, the new curriculum will be implemented immediately for matriculation and intermediate students. All affiliated educational institutions have been instructed to obtain the new curriculum from the board’s federal website and ensure its immediate implementation.

According to the Federal Board of Education spokesperson, the new curriculum has been prepared in accordance with modern educational requirements and international standards, which will significantly improve the academic and mental abilities of the students.

The announcement further states that the new curriculum will be implemented uniformly in all schools and colleges affiliated to the Federal Board across the country.

All institutions have been instructed to ensure immediate implementation of this decision so that uniformity is maintained in the examination system.

For classes X and XII, the new curriculum will take effect from 2025, as these students have already completed Part-I of their matriculation or intermediate studies. Under the revised system, students will be evaluated based on Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) instead of traditional textbooks.

The Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) system introduced by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) marks a shift from rote learning to a more concept-based evaluation approach. It emphasizes assessing students’ understanding and ability to apply knowledge, focusing on clearly defined outcomes for each subject. The aim is to promote critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills among students.
