Web desk: Justice Aminuddin has been appointed Chief Justice of the First Federal Constitutional Court, say sources.
The President of Pakistan is set to administer the oath to all judges of the newly established Federal Constitutional Court tomorrow at 10:00 AM at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Sources say that the preparations are underway for the swearing-in ceremony, during which Justice Aminuddin will take the oath as the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.
President Asif Ali Zardari, who recently signed the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill, will officiate the ceremony, as per the reports.
Sources also said that the Prime Minister, Speaker, Senate Chairman, federal ministers, and other key officials have been informed about the event.
The swearing-in follows the passage of the 27th Constitutional Amendment. After the Amendment, the resignations of the senior-most Supreme Court judges, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Athar Minallah, were also announced.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah submitted his resignation to the President, stating that he served the institution with honour, honesty, and integrity.
In his letter, he added that his conscience is clear, he has no regrets, and he is resigning from his position as the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court.
Afterwards, Law and Justice Commission member and former attorney Makhdoom Ali Khan has also resigned.
Govt Not Appointing Vice Chief of Army Staff: Sources
The government is not appointing the Vice Chief of Army Staff; the appointment has been made subject to consultation with the Chief of Defence Forces, say sources.
Sources said that the provision regarding the post of Vice Chief of Army Staff is already present in the Army Act.
According to which, the appointment of the Vice Chief of Army Staff has been made subject to consultation with the Chief of Defence Forces.
