KARACHI: A major terrorism bid has been averted in Karachi as the intelligence agencies arrested a female suicide bomber.
In a major operation, intelligence agencies arrested a female suicide bomber and foiled a planned attack. During interrogation, the woman made disturbing disclosures.
She said she was radicalised through online content. She first watched videos of Shari Baloch and then followed similar videos and songs on social media.
According to officials, she later came into contact with a man on Instagram. He sent her a book and added her to a WhatsApp group. In the group, female suicide bombers were glorified as heroes. She was told she would be remembered like Shari Baloch if she carried out an attack.
The woman said she left home on an excuse. She was told she was doing something “big” for the Baloch people. Security forces arrested her before the plan could materialise.
In a strong warning, she said those showing sympathy online are not helpers but hunters.
She questioned why extremists preach suicide to others while giving their own daughters books and pens instead.
