Web desk: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), is on an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. During the visit, he met His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, the King of Jordan and Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, as per a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II was also present during the meeting.
Both leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, especially ways to enhance defence and security cooperation and exchanged views on regional developments.
The COAS conveyed warm greetings from the people, government, and armed forces of Pakistan and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its fraternal ties with Jordan.
King Abdullah appreciated the professionalism and contributions of the Pakistan Armed Forces towards regional peace and stability. He also expressed his desire to further deepen defence collaboration between the two countries.
Earlier, Field Marshal Asim Munir also met Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Huneiti, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordan Armed Forces, at the General Headquarters in Amman.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was welcomed with a Guard of Honour on arrival.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the historic and strong relations between the armed forces of Pakistan and Jordan.
Major General Al-Huneiti praised the Pakistan Army’s role in promoting peace and regional security.
Trump again praises Field Marshal Munir, PM Shehbaz
US President Donald Trump has once again praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir during his visit to Malaysia for the ASEAN Summit.
Speaking at a signing ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Trump described the Pakistani leaders as “great leaders.” He commended their roles in regional stability.
Addressing reporters, the US president said that Saudi Arabia’s mediation had helped ease tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan amid recent border clashes.
During the event, Trump joined Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to sign a new regional pact.
“This is a momentous day for the people of Southeast Asia,” Trump said after the signing.
Hun Manet and Charnvirakul later posed for photographs and exchanged handshakes with Trump and Anwar.
Referring to the recent border escalation, Trump added, “We got it stopped.”
