The Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, met Ahle Tashi ulema in Rawalpindi today. Discussions on the role of religious scholars in national security and social harmony took place.

The Field Marshal added that scholars have a key role in promoting unity, tolerance and national cohesion.

He said that religious leaders have a duty to curb misinformation and sectarian narratives.

He further delivered the clear message that the use of Afghan soil against Pakistan will not be tolerated. He promised that terrorists will be completely eliminated under Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq.

The terrorist hideouts will be targeted wherever they are. He also said that Afghan Taliban must not allow their territory to be used for terrorism against Pakistan.

He said it clearly that violence will not be allowed in Pakistan and religious sentiments will not be allowed to be exploited to incite violence in Pakistan.

The scholars in the meeting also condemned violence and announced complete support for security institutions maintaining peace and stability.
