In the last 24 hours, Field Marshal Asim Munir has become the most searched personality on Google worldwide.

The rush to attention follows Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach efforts over the Iran-Israel conflict.

According to developments cited from media reports, the White House has admitted that the US President Donald Trump had held discussions with Field Marshal Asim Munir as part of wider communication channels with a view to de-escalate.

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said the talks were sensitive and that the U.S. does not conduct negotiations based on stories told by the media.

She warned against speculation until an official word has been issued.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has asked the relevant authorities to prepare for possible hosting of Iran-US talks in Pakistan.

A high-level meeting chaired by the prime minister together the high-level military command together with federal ministers to examine the developing diplomatic situation.

The past meeting focused on the role of Pakistan in supporting the efforts for peace and assessing diplomatic preparedness regarding the dialogue process between the concerned parties.

Sources suggest that Pakistan has signalled that it is willing to host negotiations if both parties agree to it and the leadership has reiterated that their intention is to promote stability in the area by peaceful means such as diplomacy.

The government also has welcomed international recognition of Pakistan’s potential role as a mediator.

According to international reporting, Pakistan has increasingly become a keystone of diplomatic communications between the United States and Iran.
