Field Marshal Asim Munir, Trump meeting boosted US-Pak ties

WEB DESK: Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir’s meeting with Donald Trump at White House gave an extraordinary boost to United States (US) and Pakistan ties.

In an article, “The Telegraph” acknowledges the wisdom of Pakistani leadership in gaining recognition in the world.

The Journal details that the India-Pakistan war in May this year proved Pakistan’s defense capability and strengthened its international position.

The journal highlights that the war also gave a new direction to Pak-US relations and restored Washington’s trust in Pakistan due to Islamabad’s effective diplomacy.

It says the United States has given centrality to Pakistan’s geographical importance by declaring it a key bridge between South Asia, the Gulf and Central Asia.

The Journal mentions the Trump administration’s National Security Strategy, issued last mont,h which terms Pakistan as a key ally of the United States. 

It points out that Pakistan has opened new economic avenues based on national interest by maintaining a multilateral balance along with CPEC.

Earlier, India’s leading newspaper, The Hindu, acknowledged Pakistan’s achievements, calling the country “back in West Asia’s good graces,” while recognising Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s efforts for the country.

The article highlights the role of the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in navigating these diplomatic victories.

It notes that while Pakistan has often achieved success under pressure. The recent accomplishments with the United States and West Asia have strengthened CDF Field Marshal Munir’s position at a critical moment.

The Hindu emphasised that Pakistan has leveraged its strategic position and political agility to gain international recognition.

The newspaper highlighted Field Marshal Munir’s prominence. It also mentioned that US President Donald Trump once referred to him as “my favourite Field Marshal.”

However, this was not the only time the US President had shown his appreciation to him.

Further, it added that Pakistan’s strong support for Gulf positions on Gaza has further ‘enhanced’ its regional influence.

The article also discussed the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA) signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in September 2025. The agreement is a huge victory for the country.
