FIFA South Korea coach receives death threats over team’s failure

South Korea’s surprise exit from the FIFA World Cup 2026 has sparked widespread anger in the country.

According to the details, the coach of South Korea received death threats over the team’s failure in the World Cup. After the exit from the FIFA World Cup, the head coach of South Korea, Hong Myung-bo, resigned due to public pressure.

The authorities have intensified the security of Hong Myung-bo after the death threats.

Before the arrival of the South Korean team at Incheon International Airport, the government authorities deployed around 160 police officials and 25 specially trained officers for the security of the team and the head coach, Hong Myung-bo.

South Korea began its FIFA World Cup journey by defeating the Czech Republic. However, after continuous defeats by Mexico and South Africa, the team exited the tournament.

Earlier, with the efforts of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, the South Korean men’s national hockey team was set to tour Pakistan from July 27 to August 9, 2026.

During the visit, a special training camp and a series of practice matches against the Pakistan national hockey team will be held in Islamabad.

A 25-member South Korean delegation will arrive in Pakistan, including 20 players and 5 officials. The team will conduct regular training sessions using Pakistan’s modern hockey infrastructure and will also play several practice matches against the national team.
