Saba Qamar reveals how traumatic filming of case no 9 was

WEB DESK: Famous actress Saba Qamar has revealed how emotionally challenging  and traumatic it was to play the role of a rape survivor in her latest drama Case No. 9.

The actor shared her thoughts after a clip surfaced showing Shamoon Abbasi, Nadia Khan, and Atiqa Odho praising her intense performance. Reflecting on the demanding role, Saba admitted that portraying such deep emotions had been far from easy.

She said filming heavy emotional scenes repeatedly took a visible toll on her physical and mental health, forcing her to slow down and focus on her well-being.

“It’s not easy,” she said. “Emotional scenes take a real toll on the mind and body. I’ve faced health issues because of it. But I’m learning to take better care of myself ,  to breathe through the emotional strain.”

In Case No. 9, Saba plays Sehar, an ambitious professional whose promising career is shattered after she is sexually assaulted by her boss, Kamran, played by Faysal Quraishi. The story follows Sehar’s struggle for justice through a harsh and often unsympathetic judicial system, with her lawyer Beenish Ali (Aamina Sheikh) standing by her side.

Written by journalist Shahzeb Khanzada and directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain, the drama goes beyond traditional storytelling to explore the emotional and legal realities of sexual assault survivors.

Aamina Sheikh shared that the series draws inspiration from real court cases and legal processes to ensure authenticity. She said the goal was not just to tell a story but to raise awareness about victims’ rights and the flaws in Pakistan’s justice system.

Saba’s portrayal of Sehar has been widely praised for portraying the real emotions of rape victims.
