Final Fantasy 7 remake part three gets official title

Final Fantasy 7 remake

The title of the third game of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy has been decided, according to the game’s director Naoki Hamaguchi. He confirmed that the decision was made by creative director Tetsuya Nomura.

Speaking about the process, Hamaguchi said the team had narrowed the choice down to two options during Paris Games Week. After returning from the event, Nomura made the final call. “The title has been locked,” Hamaguchi said, offering reassurance to fans waiting for news about the third chapter.

The game was given the official title yesterday by the company: “Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade.” The developing company have also confirmed it in their post at X, as the game is available on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox.

More than a simple remake

Since its launch in 2020, the game has not been a straightforward retelling of the 1997 original. The word “Remake” reflects changes to the story itself, with themes around fate and choice playing a central role.

That idea continued in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, released in 2024, which explored a world reshaped by the actions of the series’ antagonist, Sephiroth. The third game is expected to follow the same approach, with its title also linking closely to the trilogy’s broader narrative.

Development progressing smoothly

Hamaguchi said development of the third game is moving steadily. While polishing work remains, he confirmed that the game is already playable.

The trilogy is developed by Square Enix’s Creative Business Unit I, led by producer Yoshinori Kitase, with Nomura overseeing the creative direction. For now, fans will have to wait a little longer to learn the final title, but the closing chapter is firmly taking shape.

Minigames returning

In an interview with Polygon, Hamaguchi confirmed that minigames will again be in the field very soon. One fan favourite, the card-based game Queen’s Blood, will return in an expanded form.

Hamaguchi also addressed the much-loved snowboarding sequence from the original game. He said the team understands its importance to fans and plans to integrate it more closely with the story, rather than presenting it as a simple side activity.
