WEB DESK: The tragic fire incident on New Year’s Eve in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana took the lives of around 40 people, and at least 115 people were seriously injured.
According to the authorities, the tragic incident happened at Le Constellation bar, a popular nightlife venue in the Valais resort, on Thursday, January 1.
The Swiss President, Guy Parmelin, said that we are “in shock” due to the following disaster. He further added that, “I have been recently informed that many of the casualties were the young people”.
The Police Chief Frédéric Gisler has confirmed that around 40 people were reported dead, and 115 have been seriously injured.
The wounded were taken to the medical facilities in Sion, Lausanne, Bern, Geneva, and Zurich.
Countries including France, Germany, and Italy have offered their expertise for the treatment of the burned people.
A detailed investigation has been initiated in order to determine the cause of the fire.
