Web desk: Seven militants linked to the Indian-backed group Fitna al Khwarij were killed during an intelligence-based operation carried out by Pakistani security forces in the Dogar area of Kurram District on Tuesday, the ISPR said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), troops launched the operation after receiving reports about the presence of the militants in the area.
During the exchange of fire, seven militants were killed as security forces engaged their positions effectively.
However, six Pakistani soldiers, including a young army officer, were martyred in the operation.
Captain Noman Saleem, 24, a medical officer from Mianwali, embraced martyrdom while providing medical support and fighting alongside his comrades.
The other soldiers who laid down their lives were Havildar Amjad Ali, 39, from Swabi; Naik Waqas Ahmad, 36, from Rawalpindi; Sepoy Aijaz Ali, 23, from Shikarpur; Sepoy Muhammad Waleed, 23, from Jhelum; and Sepoy Muhammad Shahbaz, 32, from Khairpur.
The ISPR said a sanitisation operation was under way in the area to clear any remaining presence of militants.
Security forces reaffirmed their commitment to eliminate terrorism under the ongoing counterterrorism campaign “Azm-e-Istehkam,” which was approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
The military stated that Pakistan’s security forces remain resolute in their mission to eradicate terrorism, particularly networks backed by foreign elements, and to ensure lasting peace and stability across the country.
Funeral prayers for the martyred soldiers are expected to be held at their respective hometowns with full military honours.
