Previously the record for 5 wickets in 5 balls in professional T20 cricket was held by Irish international cricketer Curtis Campher achieved in a domestic inter-provincial match.
Sahibzada Farhan’s World Cup performance shake up ICC T20I batting charts
Abhishek Sharma’s hold on the top batting spot in the ICC Men’s T20I Batter Rankings doesn’t look as strong as it did before as Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan makes huge strides after a decent T20 World Cup run.
Farhan wrote his name in the record books when he made history as the first to score two centuries in a single ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
His latest hundred came against Sri Lanka in Pallekele which resulted in him moving up into second position in the rankings with a new career best rating.
Although Abhishek still leads the charts, his lead has been cut to 26 rating points.
Farhan’s splendid run tally of 383 runs from the tournament helped him to move past England’s Phil Salt and reduce the margin to the Indian batter at the top.
Top 10 Sees Major Shake-Up
There has been plenty of movement after the Super Eights stage. The Indian duo Ishan Kishan (fourth) and Tilak Varma (sixth) both jumped up one place to consolidate India’s position in the top 10. South Africa’s Dewald Brevis also moved up to eighth.
Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett jumped six positions to number 11 after scoring 292, whereas South Africa’s Ryan Rickelton (at 13th) and Aiden Markram (at 16th) benefited from their improved rankings.
