Web desk: Hundreds of flights were delayed in India at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport this morning after a technical glitch in the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system forced staff to handle all departures and arrivals manually.
Delhi Airport Flight Delay
The malfunction, which began on Thursday evening, disrupted operations at India’s busiest airport and triggered widespread delays at several other major airports.
Reports indicate that a suspected malware attack may have caused the failure of the Automatic Message Switching System.
According to Indian Media report, initial findings suggest that the disruption in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS), which manages Air Traffic Control (ATC) data, may have been caused by a malware attack. And, Pakistan was quickly blamed for the disruption.
Over 100 flights were delayed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport after a major technical snag crippled the Air Traffic Control system.

According to a report by Indian Media, early signs indicate that the break in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) that takes care of ATC data may have been the result of a malware attack.
Governments stated that technical teams have been working on restoring the system and normalising operations as fast as possible.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced that the process of flight operations in the IGI Airport is currently done manually. Adding that it is the reason behind the delays in flights in various airlines.
Customers have been encouraged to maintain contact with their respective airlines in order to get updated in real time.
The system is crucial for managing more than 1,500 daily flight movements at India’s busiest airport.
