The largest airline in Finland, Finnair, has cancelled all flights to Dubai for this winter season amid the Middle East crisis.
The suspension will run from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027.
Citing the reason, the airline said that the situation in the Middle East does not seem likely to improve anytime soon, which led to this decision.
Additionally, Air Canada and Virgin Atlantic have announced that they will not resume flights to Dubai until 2027. However, Emirates and flydubai flights are still operating normally from Dubai International Airport. The airport continues to welcome tourists, but passenger traffic remains below normal levels, affecting tourism.
It is pertinent to mention that the ongoing tensions between Iran and the US have raised security concerns in the region, discouraging some people from travelling to Dubai. Although Dubai has long been considered a safe destination, the recent regional tensions have affected travellers’ confidence and tourism activity.
Local hotels, airlines, and restaurants faced steep revenue losses, prompting some properties to move up refurbishment plans or offer deep discounts. Not only that, but hotel occupancy and airport passenger traffic dropped significantly during the first half of 2026 compared to record numbers in 2025.
Reason behind international airlines suspending flights to Dubai
Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths recently said many foreign airlines are facing problems getting insurance for flights to the region. Because of this, several international airlines have delayed their return to Dubai.
