The Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will undertake a visit to China on 31 March 2026, at the invitation of the Foreign Minister of China, Mr Wang Yi.
Pakistan and China enjoy an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, characterised by close coordination and regular consultations on regional and international issues.
In this context, the upcoming visit will provide an opportunity for both sides to hold in-depth discussions on regional developments, as well as bilateral and global issues of mutual interest.
The Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister’s visit to China, despite medical advice to rest following his hairline shoulder fracture yesterday, is evidence of the importance placed by Pakistan on its relationship with China.
Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, confirmed that Iran and the US showed trust in Pakistan, and Pakistan will host talks between the US and Iran in the coming days.
Ishaq Dar said, “Pakistan will be honoured to host and facilitate meaningful talks between the sides in the coming days for comprehensive and lasting settlement of the ongoing conflict.”
Key talks in Islamabad were held as the foreign ministers of four countries met to discuss the evolving regional situation and push for peace amid rising tensions.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar hosted his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt for the high-level meeting. The discussions focused on finding diplomatic solutions to ongoing conflicts, particularly the tensions between the United States and Iran.
Speaking during the session, Ishaq Dar said all sides agreed that war is not in anyone’s interest. He stressed that dialogue and negotiations are the only way forward to ensure peace and stability in the region. The foreign ministers also held detailed discussions on key regional issues and explored ways to reduce tensions.
Dar added that the participating countries would welcome meaningful talks between the United States and Iran. He emphasised that increasing instability in the region benefits no country and called for collective efforts to de-escalate the situation.
The key talks in Islamabad highlight Pakistan’s growing role in regional diplomacy. As the foreign ministers of four countries met, the meeting signalled a shared commitment to peaceful solutions and stronger cooperation to address ongoing challenges.
